There are 2 main types of adjustment you can get from shock absorbers, namely height adjustment, and bump/rebound.
Height adjustment is gained by having a coilover type arrangement, whereby the spring fits over the shock absorber. The adjustment is made by winding the seat that the spring sits on either up or down. This is done by using special spanners, 'c-spanners' which Leda provides free of charge with all kits.
We thread as much of the body of the shock absorber as possible, to allow for as much adjustment range as possible, but this can be limited by your wheel size, tyres, and other clearance issues behind the wheel.
Bump and rebound is adjusted by way of an adjuster knob on the side of the shock. Generally, this is set at a 3:1 ratio, but we can set it to whatever you want it to be. As our shocks use the 'twin-tube' system, the range from hard to soft is enormous. Mono-tube shocks have a much smaller range of adjustment, but we can make these too.
Adjustment is very easy to do, as the knob is designed with 24 positive 'clicks'. This makes it very simple for the user to know where the adjustment is set. In fact, one of our customers wrote this on an internet forum....
"You can change all four very fast. In fact, one time it was pretty funny. I had been at the track the day before and forgot to change back to what I call my "Coupe de Ville" ride. My wife was with me and commented on how harsh the ride was. I said, "Oh right I forgot to make the change." At the next red light I got out and changed all four dampers before it turned green."
We also make a 'double adjustable' version, which means you can adjust bump and rebound independantly. Bump settings are adjusted on the gas canister, and rebound on the shock body. As both knobs have 24 positions, you effectively then have 576 (24x24) different settings to try.
Our newest version is a 3-way adjustable unit. This gives you high and low speed bump settings, and rebound. This is aimed at the Professional competitor. |
