T Car is the pinnacle of its class... simply the best junior Formula in the world!
The UK’s brightest racing talent, 20 rounds on exciting circuits across the country, and identical tin-tops created for close racing. This is T Cars!
Since its inception as the UK’s first junior racing formula in 1999, T Cars has proved an ideal first rung for drivers between the ages of 14 and 17 to get on to the motorsport ladder. It is one of the only championships in the UK which allows 14-year-olds to race full-size cars, and as such is the premier junior formula for aspiring young drivers to make the step into motor racing.
T Cars are powered by identical two-litre tuned Ford Duratec engines and run on Avon tyres. The machines put out 145 brake horsepower and have a top speed of over 120mph. Their minimum weight is just 910kg including driver, giving them great acceleration. Designed by SHP Engineering with safety a top priority, T Cars are renowned for being the safest junior formula currently operating in the UK.

Top drivers who have started their careers in T Cars include Tom Chilton, now a race winner in the British Touring Car Championship, 2005 SEAT Cupra Cup champion Tom Boardman and Jonathan Cocker, who in 2004 became the youngest-ever British GT champion at the age of just 18. Two T Cars alumni have gone on to win the Formula Palmer Audi championship, Ryan Lewis in 2003 (who went on to become British F3 Scholarship champion the following year) and Jonathan Kennard in 2004. Success in T Cars doesn’t just confine drivers to circuit racing, as 2002 champion Matthew Wilson now drives for Ford in the World Rally Championship!
